Why sponsor HealthForce Kentucky?

Kentucky faces a severe healthcare workforce shortage. 54 of Kentucky's 120 counties are designated Health Professional Shortage Areas. 47% of Kentucky counties lack adequate EMS coverage. 35% of Kentucky nurses are over age 50 and nearing retirement. 8 rural hospitals have closed since 2010. The healthcare worker shortage costs Kentucky's economy an estimated $2.4 billion annually.
